 HAIR REMOVAL

Unwanted body and face hair can be a nuisance that continually needs to be shaved, plucked, or waxed. Imagine the time you’d save eliminating this tedious chore from your daily routine. We offer the most effective solutions to removing unwanted hair permanently on the face and body including both laser hair removal and electrolysis. We can even tackle excessive hair growth referred to as hirsutism that ranges from fine hair to dark, coarse hair with unsurpassed results. Both treatment options are safe and highly effective.

TREATMENTS

+ Dermaplaning

Dermaplaning is a form of manual exfoliation similar in theory to microdermabrasion but without the use of suction or abrasive crystals. A medical grade, sterile blade is stroked along the skin at an angle to gently “shave off” dead skin cells from the epidermis. It also temporarily removes the fine vellus hair of the face, leaving a very smooth surface. Dermaplaning reduces the appearance of fine lines, evens skin tone and assists in reducing milia, closed and open comedones, and minor breakouts associated with congested pores. Dermaplaning can be an effective exfoliation method for clients that have couperose (tiny blood vessels near the surface of the skin), sensitive skin or allergies that prevent the use of microdermabrasion or chemical peels, as well as those who are pregnant or nursing and want a deeper exfoliation.

+ Electrolysis

Electrolysis is a popular hair removal solution that provides more permanent results then laser hair removal. Electrolysis works similarly by passing shortwave radio frequencies through a hair follicle which damages the follicle causing existing hairs to fall out and prevents new hair from growing. Electrolysis is extremely versatile and can be used on all skin and hair types anywhere on the body. However, you’ll still need multiple follow-up appointments for the best results. Minor side effects are common, but they tend to go away within a day. The most common symptom is slight redness from skin irritation. The benefits are electrolysis carries fewer risks and side effects, and you don’t need the maintenance treatments required for laser hair removal. The downside is that electrolysis must be spread out over more sessions and it can’t cover large areas at once like laser hair removal can. Your choice may depend on how quickly you want to achieve short-term hair removal.

+ Laser Hair Removal

Unwanted hair is a common problem that can now be easily and comfortably managed. Traditional hair removal treatments use IPL (intense impulse light) or a diode which eventually leads to reduction of hair from the root but can often have difficulty treating people with darker skin tones.

Fotona has devised a laser system that can treat all skin types. It also has less risks and higher efficacy rates in the removal of unwanted hair on the face and body.

Fotona’s Dynamis Nd:YAG laser uses their exclusive FRAC3 laser delivery system. This method of laser delivery uses a combination of selective and standardized photothermolysis. The longer wavelengths used with the pulse technology targets the hair follicles deeper than the conventional lasers because this can successfully deliver more laser light into the hair follicles with each repeated passing over the area.

FRAC3 laser hair reduction is safe, comfortable and effective in reducing hair on the face and body without damaging the surrounding skin. Hair reduction requires a series of treatments due to the different cycles of hair growth, but patients can expect a 10% to 25% hair reduction with each treatment, which is every 4-6 weeks for the face and every 6 to 8 weeks for treatments on the body.
